Fl10s: False Lights Seaham
Ed Carter
2014
Fl10s: False Lights Seaham is a work by Ed Carter that combines combining sculpture, sound, light and live performance, inspired by east Durham's maritime heritage, and responds specifically to the 1962 George Elmy lifeboat disaster. Fl10s comprises an installation, composition, and a site-specific live performance.
As part of the East Durham Creates Festival 2014, Fl10s was exhibited at St John's Church, Seaham. It was transported to and reassembled at Seaham Marina for a one off expanded performance, joined by a local brass quintet and percussionists.

Ed Carter devises and creates interdisciplinary projects that are context-specific, with a focus on sound, collaboration, process and technology. Carter takes patterns, associations, rhythms and chronology, and uses these to form the structures of new site-specific projects.
