I Want to Live in a City Where

In I Want to Live in a City Where Martin Firrell projects text describing the city he’d like to live in - a wish list ranging from the practical to the profound to the absurd - onto the façade of the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square, London. Strikingly visual, Firrell’s text works are both highly evocative and directly engaging.

Martin Firrell is an artist who places text in public spaces because he believes art’s place is at the centre of everyday life. He has created public realm projects for Tate Britain and central London locations including Donmar Theatre, Soho Hotel and railway stations, using placards, billboards and projection to carry his text interventions.
